ROOTS brings together five years worth of research and photographic interactions with twelve of England’s heritage oak trees to examine the ways in which humans engage, perceive and collaborate with aspects of the natural world. Inspired by research that studies how trees communicate underground through vast root and fungal networks and how this might inform or shift perspectives on how we see and interact with the natural world, ROOTS explores how photography, as a light-based medium, might be used to ‘collaborate’ with plants beyond simply recording and displaying their image.
