Untrained Lines is a collaborative exhibition by Worcester based, self-taught artists Parth Trivedi
and Matt Price, celebrating the expressive potential of everyday tools—technical pens and ballpoint pens.

Parth creates intricate ink drawings to life using technical pens and ballpoint pens, inspired by his love for cinema, pop culture, the outdoors, and wildlife. His work captures the overlooked details of everyday scenes with patience and precision.

Matt, working primarily with ballpoint pens, draws from his deep love of 80’s films and the bold, graphic style of Marvel and DC comics.

His pieces fuse nostalgia and energy, layering spontaneous lines into dynamic and character driven compositions.

Together, their work highlights the beauty of drawing without formal training—showing that
creativity doesn’t need permission, just a pen and the urge to make a mark.

My name is Parth and I am a self-taught artist based in Worcester.
My love for drawing began in the 90’s by watching endless hours of cartoons, films & reading
comic books. I was always fascinated by the different art styles and how a story can be told
through drawings.
Over the years, I have tried many mediums such as acrylic paint, markers and even digital (love
my iPad!) but my preferred medium is ink. My love for cinema, the outdoors, and wildlife forms a
key part of my illustrations. I aim to capture the details that often go unnoticed, using simple lines
to tell quiet, thoughtful stories.
My goal as an artist is to inspire people of all ages to create art.
My motto is – Practice and consistency outweigh talent!

My name is Matt and I’m a Worcester man, who has loved sketching since I was a child.

My preferred medium is biro and as a child of the 80’s, I am a lover of classic action movies,
heroes and villains. As a father of boys, the worlds of Marvel and DC have become our household
passion and play a large part in my illustrations.
My favourite time is when my sons sit and draw alongside me. I now want to inspire more children
to get into art as well as teenagers and adults alike.
