Joanne Patterson Tamayo has been a Worcester, UK based artist since 2020. She was born in
Zimbabwe where she spent her childhood. Joanne graduated with an MFA in Sculpture from Pratt
Institute, New York in 2003. She mostly creates sculpture and mixed media art, working in a
variety of materials. She often draws her inspiration from Africa and from her memories of both
growing up and living there as an adult. She frequently uses everyday objects and collected items
in her work which deals with social, cultural and/or environmental issues.
Joanne is represented by Circle Art Gallery in Nairobi, Kenya and she has a sculpture in The
Constitutional Court collection in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has exhibited in South Africa,
Kenya, Portugal and the USA.
