WE ARE NEON part of Bridges of Light 2026 is open to the public from 6 – 9pm on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October
By The Artery in collaboration with Stanley Road and Carnforth Primary Schools and the people of Worcester.
We Are Neon is a glowing portrait gallery celebrating the people of Worcester. The project combines light rope artworks, to be discovered along a trail through the city centre, with a gallery of mirrors showcasing fluorescent painted portraits in Arch 27.
The portraits invite you to reflect on the people of Worcester, notice the characteristics that make them unique and appreciate the diversity of our communities. You are then encouraged to look at your own reflection, notice the features that make you who you are, and see yourself proudly as part of our city.
The neon trail is inspired by the simplicity and honesty of children’s drawings. A selection of these portraits, created on the lead up to the festival, will be transformed into colourful light artworks, celebrating individuality.
Both collections of portraits will become a vibrant gallery and neon trail across the city, bringing different people and communities together. Through light, colour and scale, they will form a tapestry of different ages, expressions and personalities. Each face remains distinct, yet together they will create a shared portrait of the city, a colourful and welcoming collection for everyone to enjoy.
