SATURDAY 17TH MAY
11AM – 4PM
£70 PER PERSON
Join printmaker Sarah Roberts for a workshop in the basics of screen-printing using paper stencils.
Stencil screen printing is a relatively quick and accessible printing process. Offering great scope for exploring colour and shape to create vibrant designs and images, representational and abstract.
As part of the workshop, you will be guided through the design of your stencil as well as the printing process itself. To make the print, ink is pushed through a mesh screen, with shapes blocked out by the stencil of your own design. A thin, quick drying layer of ink is transferred to the printing paper and, once dry, further layers in different colours can be added over the top if required.
All materials and equipment will be provided. You are welcome to bring general reference images, photographs or books to use as inspiration – keep in mind bold designs and shapes work best for screen printing with stencils.
Suitable for adults of all ages and abilities.
This course is suitable for beginners as well as those looking to learn a new printmaking technique.
Please note: this is a hands-on workshop. Participants will be using equipment such as scalpels and squeegees. Some of the workshop will be seated but participants will also be standing to screen print.
Places are limited to 8 people.
The workshop will run from 11.00am – 4.00pm with a lunch break. Tea and coffee will be provided, participants need to provide their own lunch.
